Elton Prescott - Profile

Our  litigation department is headed by our partner, Mr. Elton Prescott, a  trial lawyer of over twenty years experience and a labour law and industrial  relations specialist.  Although  Mr. Prescott now acts only in civil litigation, he has previous experience  as a State Counsel and in criminal law.   He received widespread recognition as Chairman of a Commission  appointed by the President to consider the application of the death  penalty in Trinidad and Tobago, now popularly known as the Prescott  Commission, and as indicated above he is a director of the Central Bank of  Trinidad and Tobago. In December 1998 he was appointed Chairman of the Standing Tripartite Committee on labour matters.

Our  litigation department undertakes a wide variety of civil litigation and industrial relations matters.   Under Mr. Prescott’s leadership, the litigation department has  achieved a good success rate in debt collection and possession actions for  our clients.  Actions for and  against insurers are also an important feature of the work of the  litigation department.  We  also regularly appear in tax appeal matters before the Tax Appeal Board.
